Come Share My Stories, Told Through Pictures

As an amateur photographer, I look for different sights in each photo that, to me, tells the stories about me and about the type of color in photos. I like backgrounds taken at different fair's and festivals where the blue sky meets the blue water with a tall ship with all the sails up. Even a lighthouse behind the tall ship makes a great photo. I also enjoy pictures taken with the blue sky filled in between with multi-colored hot air balloons. Its neat when the pilots get the balloon just about ready to launch and fires up the furnace for a long and short blasts of fire. This makes a fun looking photo with the balloon starting to go up and a blast of fire along with the colors in the balloon itself. It sure is a beautiful sight when the blue sky and 20 balloons cover the foreground all ready for lift-off. Now! That's a great picture.

Tall Ships Of Oswego
2001 was a great year in Oswego for Tall Ships. Each weekend in the month of June had different tall ships comming into the inner harbor to let the people tour the ships and take a 2 hour cruise out past the inner harbor wall into Lake Ontario and back again. With the Oswego inner-harbor west pier lighthouse in the background of a lot of great shots it was the place to be. The beautiful blue sky met the sparkling blue water for the best picture ever. For some beautiful pictures check out my photo page.
Oswego Harborfest
Oswego Harborfest is one of the most favorite 3 day event that I look forward to going to every July. I shoot a lot of pictures here. I enjoy watching all the boats comming in and going out of the harbor. This is a crowd pleasure. They have Arts & Crafts on display along the city pier, with a big sound stage across the canal with live music all weekend long. This is the place to be on a hot day. All the food and drinks you want and a carnival for the kids with games and rides and food consessions on the midway. with more Arts & Crafts just north of the rides. Just past this is a fenced in area with another live band with a beer tent. Up on top of the hill is Fort Ontario where all weekend they have re-enactments of the Civil War going on which is quite the show. On Saturday night at dusk there is a 45 minute fireworks display along the breaker wall at the harbor end. This is always a great show. I took digitals of them this year. Come out good. Camera doesn't recycle quick enough between pictures. It takes 10 - 15 seconds between pictures for next picture is ready to be shot. Great Day & Night for a party.

Beginning Photography Tips
Make sure you have the correct film for what you're trying to do. For example, 400, a faster speed, is more suitable for action shots than 200. To become more of a photographer than a person snapping pictures, do some slightly different things with your composition. For example, try placing subjects off-center, using natural lines or frames, or taking the picture from a different angle.

INTERESTS
Other than taking pictures of Balloon Festivals, Tall Ships, Sunsets, Lighthouses. We will go to the New York State Fair in Syracuse, NY and spend the day there going through all the buildings and seeing all the new gimicks out and what they do for you. I like taking pictures of the rides going after dark. I usually go around by each ride and get a photo of it before starting up. I do have a good use for all of my digital photos and that is I use them as address headers with my name and address on all the envelopes that I send out. They do serve a purpose. We also spend one full day at the Erie County Fair in Hamburg, NY. I get a lot of night photos here. check out my photo page for some I took this year.

Let There Be Light
As this picture demonstrates, lighting can show the glory of the ordinary. For the best results, take pictures in the morning and evenings; the light at dawn and dusk brings depth and softness to objects and people.
